SERAC Biosciences AG is looking for a (Senior) Research Associate/Scientist, High throughput Proteomics in Targeted Protein Degradation.

For our portfolio company SERAC Biosciences AG, we are looking for a highly motivated (Sr) research associate/Scientist responsible to support one of Ridgeline Discovery’s portfolio company about to come out of stealth mode.
The successful candidate will have experience in Mass Spectrometry-Based Drug Discovery, ideally applied to targeted protein degradation (job title will be based on previous experience). She/he will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic team player with proven organizational skills, and strong scientific background to impact early and late-stage development projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with cell biologists to prepare samples for MS-based screening, operate state-of-the-art high resolution mass spectrometers, analyze and interpret multi-layered data, and present findings to stakeholders and external collaborators.
- Develop and implement sample preparation and automation protocols, optimize mass spectrometer performance, and adapt novel technologies.
- Oversee data generation and analysis of large-scale proteomics datasets.
- Work closely with an interdisciplinary team to identify potential novel drug targets.
- Stay engaged with scientific literature to remain up-to-date with the latest developments and novel approaches.
- Be proactive and open-minded in contributing to the achievement of the company’s goals in a dynamic and fast-paced start-up environment.
- Characterize novel drug targets and their mechanisms of action.
- Contribute to laboratory general organization and maintenance, manage laboratory stocks and ordering.
- Ensure compliance with good laboratory practices including safety regulations, data management, data recording in electronic notebooks and archiving.
WHO YOU ARE
- Research associate level: you hold a Master, Bachelor degree or laboratory apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, with at least 2 years of experience in academia, contract research, or the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, particularly in the field of proteomics.
- Scientist level: you hold a PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Biology or other relevant disciplines and 2+ years’ relevant mass spectrometry experience in drug discovery preferentially in the pharmaceutical and/or biotech setting.
- You are skilled in designing, planning, and executing laboratory experiments and are passionate about analyzing data and sharing your findings.
- Experience with the latest generation UHPLC systems and mass spectrometers (such as Orbitrap Astral or timsTOF) for in-depth proteome characterization and/or targeted analysis is a plus.
- Experience in high-throughput peptide/protein sample preparation (S-trap/SP3/PAC), automation (Agilent Bravo/OT-2/Thermo KingFisher) and DIA (data-independent acquisition) data analysis is desired.
- Knowledge of Spectronaut or DIA-NN and bioinformatics tools, such as R or Python, is a plus.
- You are an organized team player, adept at critical thinking and problem solving, with excellent communication skills in English.
- Must be highly independent, able to work well in a highly collaborative team-oriented environment. Capable of thriving and multi-tasking in a fast-paced “start-up” environment.
- Self-motivated, willingness to learn, strong work ethic, attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent communication skills are required for this position.
- Fluency in English required
