Ridgeline Discovery, a Versant Ventures Discovery Engine, creates and operates Versant-financed innovative biotech companies in partnership with entrepreneurs, industry, and leading academics. In recent years, Ridgeline has assembled an international team of >50 highly experienced drug discovery and industry professionals and built and operated multiple new successful companies; these companies have raised significant funds through Series A, B, IPO and an exit through a trade sale.
We are looking for a highly motivated Scientist to support one of Ridgeline Discovery’s portfolio companies.
The successful candidate will have experience in biological and biochemical methods, chemical biology approaches as well as compound screening technologies. A proven track record in the field of induced proximity technologies and/or transcriptional networks is an important plus. She/he will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic team player with proven organizational skills and first mentorship and people leadership experience. The candidate has a strong scientific background to impact and lead key areas of our early target discovery pipeline as well as later stage compound characterization and profiling together with exceptional potential and willingness to grow within the company as an initial leader from the bench towards project leader and beyond.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and execute chemical biology approaches to support early-stage drug discovery
- Design, implement, and optimize induced proximity assays for compound screening, profiling, and characterization
- Conduct high-throughput profiling and flowchart assays
- Perform tissue culture and engineer mammalian cell lines to support screening projects
- Transition assays to semi-automation/automation modes to enhance throughput
- Work with diverse chemical libraries, including non-covalent and covalent compounds, molecular glues, and PROTACs
- Analyze data, troubleshoot experiments, and implement innovative solutions
- Collaborate with bioinformaticians to develop and use scripts for data analysis and hit identification
- Document experimental results thoroughly and present findings in internal meetings
QUALIFICATIONS
You are a highly motivated and independent individual with a strong scientific track record in the field of induced proximity. You are an excellent team player and mentor of junior lab personnel with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is effective at working in a collaborative and diverse environment.
- Educational Background: PhD with relevant postdoctoral experience, or MS / BS with significant industry experience and a proven growth trajectory and project leadership experience in early drug discovery
- Technical Expertise:
- Broad experience in cellular and biochemical technologies
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and cell culture across various models
- Hands-on experience with high-capacity, assays and data analysis
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor in the lab, with a history of scientific contributions and achievements
- Analytical Skills: Skilled in experimental design, data interpretation, and troubleshooting
- Software Proficiency: Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and GraphPad Prism; basic programming skills are a plus
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a collaborative environment
- Language: Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
