Ridgeline Discovery, a Versant Ventures Discovery Engine, creates and operates Versant-financed innovative biotech companies in partnership with entrepreneurs, industry, and leading academics across Europe. We are looking for a motivated entry-level candidate who is eager to develop their IT skills alongside their studies. The ideal candidate brings initial experience and a strong interest in the field, demonstrating reliability and the ability to work independently under the guidance of the IT Manager. This part-time role as an Student Support in IT requires onsite presence in Basel, with core business hours from 8:00 to 17:00. We offer flexibility to accommodate candidates with a workload between 30-60%, with specific working days and schedules to be discussed and agreed upon.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Basel-based IT Manager in a wide range of IT-related tasks.
- Verify and ensure accuracy of settings and configurations on various systems.
- Prepare and set up new computers based on checklists.
- Assist in opening, managing, and maintaining user accounts.
- Support the management and updating of user permissions and access controls.
- Contribute to creating and maintaining IT documentation such as IT checklists and user guides.
- Provide 1st Level IT Support via the ticketing system, including basic troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Assist in keeping our IT inventory system up-to-date.
- Assist in rolling out software across multiple systems and platforms.
- Participate in the planning and execution of IT projects.
- Perform routine administrative and technical tasks to support IT operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be enrolled in a study program (e.g., at a university or a university of applied sciences).
- Strong motivation to learn and grow in the IT field.
- Basic understanding of IT concepts and best practices.
- Practical experience in IT-related fields, such as system engineering or IT support (programming knowledge is not required).
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is of advantage.
- Ability to work independently and reliably within set deadlines.
- Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and adapt to dynamic requirements.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
